Premium locations in the Ruhr Striking industrial monuments created by now departed heavy industry, imposing structures that on occasion bring the architectural flair of the Renaissance to mind, are the orientation points in our region. We refer here, for example, to Bochum‘s Jahrhunderthalle stage complex, the Zollverein world heritage site in Essen, and Gelsenkirchen‘s magnificently redeveloped Nordstern colliery. Other landmarks include the Schloss Strünkede manor house in Herne, and Schloss Horst, in Gelsenkirchen. This unique industrial heritage, surrounded by a diversity of parks and waterways, as well as by excellent cultural and leisure amenities, provides the setting for the prime Neue Schlosslagen sites and identifies them as premium locations in the Ruhr.
